Gameplay overview
Players create an original avatar, equip different weapon types, improve stats and skills, upgrade gear at the smithy and fight in real-time action combat.
An AI partner supports the player through a Switch system and character-specific special skills, while quests unlock new regions, Safety Areas, Warp Terminals, dungeons, Treasure and Arks.
Story, setting, or main mode
Echoes of Aincrad reimagines the beginning of Sword Art Online's Aincrad arc from the perspective of a player-created avatar. Thousands of players are trapped inside the VRMMORPG, and dying in the game also means death in the real world.
The released story begins across Aincrad's first two floors and brings the avatar together with Iori and familiar Sword Art Online characters.
