The game received version update 1.050 for PlayStation 5 Pro, adding a new Versatility Mode that combines Performance Mode and Graphics Mode characteristics using PSSR resolution technology. Rendering was optimized exclusively for PS5 Pro, and High CPU Frequency Mode delivers a more stable experience. The Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S versions launched on June 3, 2026 with the Streamlined Progression feature, which provides unlimited MP and HP, unlimited limit and ATB gauge during battles, 9,999 damage, and easier weapon ability acquisition. This feature is also being patched into the PS5 and Steam versions. The PC version supports up to 120 FPS with NVIDIA DLSS, improved lighting, and extensive graphics customization.

Gameplay and setting
Having escaped the dystopian city of Midgar, Cloud and his comrades, including Tifa Lockhart, Barret Wallace, Aerith Gainsborough, and Red XIII, venture across the planet in pursuit of Sephiroth. The game features a hybrid combat system that blends real-time action with strategic command-based abilities. New synergy skills and synergy abilities allow party members to combine attacks for devastating results. Players can explore expansive environments on foot or by riding Chocobos, engage in side activities like the Queen's Blood card game, and visit iconic locations such as Cosmo Canyon, Nibelheim, Junon, Costa del Sol, Gongaga, and the Forgotten Capital. The narrative culminates in the party's journey to the Forgotten Capital from the original FINAL FANTASY VII.
