Crimson Desert is an open-world action-adventure set across the continent of Pywel, where you follow Kliff after an attack scatters the Greymanes, the group he considers family. His journey to find the survivors and rebuild the faction leads through cities, wilderness, ruins, battlefields, and the mysterious realm called the Abyss. Combat lets you combine different weapons, physical attacks, movement, and abilities rather than following one fixed fighting style. Away from battles, you can explore freely, climb and glide through the world, travel on different mounts, complete quests, gather resources, fish, hunt, cook, improve equipment, and develop the Greymane camp.

Patch 2.01.00 was released on September 4, 2026 following the Crimson Desert Enhanced update. It adds the Gold Bar Investment Mission, lets players tilt the camera in Photo Mode, increases Camp Funds gained from Silver donations, improves horse-riding quest retries and the skill menu, and applies numerous quest, combat, interface, graphics, localization, and stability fixes.

Crimson Desert launched globally on March 19, 2026 at 22:00 UTC. The worldwide launch covered PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC, and Mac. Pearl Abyss later released Crimson Desert Enhanced as a free update for existing owners, adding story refinements, additional voice languages, and the game's accumulated post-launch improvements.

Crimson Desert is available on PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. Windows players can use Steam, the Epic Games Store, or the Xbox and Microsoft ecosystem through Xbox Play Anywhere. Gameplay and setting
Crimson Desert combines free open-world exploration with fast real-time combat. Kliff can fight with swords, spears, greatswords, axes, dual weapons, ranged weapons, kicks, grapples, and abilities that can be chained into different combinations. Encounters range from smaller skirmishes and one-on-one fights to boss battles and large battlefield clashes.
The journey takes place across Pywel, a continent of wilderness, settlements, mountains, deserts, ruins, and the mysterious Abyss. The story begins after the Black Bears attack the Greymanes and scatter the surviving members, sending Kliff across the continent to reunite the faction. Oongka and Damiane also become playable as the story develops, each with their own combat style and equipment.
Exploration extends beyond fighting. Players can climb terrain, glide from heights, ride horses and other unusual mounts, gather materials, fish, hunt, cook, improve equipment, customize their appearance, play minigames, and develop the Greymane camp while completing quests throughout the world.
