Apex Legends
Apex Legends is a free-to-play hero shooter developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts. Season 30: Marked is the current major update and launched on August 4, 2026. The newest official service update, published September 2, 2026, introduced new controller anti-cheat detection and enforcement across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch 2. The August 26 live-game hotfix restored Octane's passive healing, fixed rare Battle Royale action lockouts, corrected an unintended Gibraltar sprint interaction, and addressed reconnect rubberbanding and movement jitter.
Release date and status
Apex Legends released globally on February 4, 2019 at 20:00 UTC. Native PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions launched on March 29, 2022, and Nintendo Switch 2 followed on August 5, 2025. The original Nintendo Switch version became unplayable on August 4, 2026 and is no longer a current supported platform.

Platforms and availability
Apex Legends is currently playable on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Gameplay and setting
Apex Legends is a squad-based first-person hero shooter built around Battle Royale and other multiplayer modes. Players select from 28 Legends with unique abilities across Assault, Controller, Recon, Skirmisher, and Support classes, gather weapons and equipment, coordinate squad abilities, manage their position inside the Ring, and fight to outlast rival teams. Its permanent mode lineup includes Battle Royale, Mixtape, and Wildcard, while the current maps hub includes Broken Moon, E-District, Kings Canyon, Olympus, Storm Point, and World's Edge. The Apex Games take place across the Outlands in the Titanfall universe.

Download and availability
