Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance Reveals Boosted Actions

Capcom revealed new Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance gameplay on September 2, 2026, focusing on the Boost Bracer and the Boosted Actions it adds across all 14 weapon types. Hunters build Boost Bracer energy through aggressive attacks, then activate Boost with a Boost Driver or other weapon-specific actions to gain temporary enhanced attacks, new techniques, and additional combo options. Great Sword received the first dedicated weapon breakdown, while Capcom's weapon showcase schedule continues through September 15.

Boost Bracer adds new actions to all 14 weapon types
Boost Bracer is one of the main new hunting systems being added with Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance. Capcom's September 2 gameplay overview shows that the system affects every one of the game's 14 weapon types rather than being restricted to a small group of weapons.
Hunters build Boost Bracer energy by staying aggressive with their attacks. That stored energy can then be used to activate Boost with a powerful Boost Driver attack or another activation action unique to a particular weapon.
Entering the Boost state temporarily enhances parts of a weapon's existing moveset and enables additional techniques. Capcom describes the available changes as including new attacks, stronger actions, additional combinations, and weapon-specific ways to use Boost.
The system is designed around continuing normal combat rather than replacing each weapon's basic identity. Every weapon receives its own Boosted Actions, so the exact benefits and available attacks differ depending on the weapon being used.
Great Sword gets the first full Boosted Action breakdown
Great Sword is the first weapon to receive its own dedicated Ascendance breakdown. Its video demonstrates three major Boost Bracer additions that change movement, charged attacks, and offset attacks.
- The Great Sword can fling the hunter forward with its Boost Driver.
- Charged slashes gain explosive enhanced versions while using Boost.
- Offset attacks can be chained together as part of the expanded moveset.
The forward Boost Driver gives the Great Sword a new attack for closing distance while activating the system. Its boosted charged slashes add enhanced attacks to the weapon's established charge-focused combat, while the ability to chain offset attacks expands the options available after successfully using those moves.
Capcom also points out that the Great Sword footage contains changes to certain actions even when Boost is not active. The September 2 material does not provide a complete list of those non-Boost changes, so the dedicated footage remains the current source for seeing them in action.

Every weapon is getting its own showcase
The Great Sword video begins a larger series covering the complete weapon roster. Capcom released the general Boosted Action overview and the Great Sword breakdown on September 2, 2026.
The current schedule runs through September 15, with another weapon type receiving a dedicated Boosted Action video each day. The remaining 13 weapons are therefore being shown individually rather than having every new action explained at once.
Note: Capcom states that the weapon video release schedule can change.
The individual breakdowns are particularly important because Boost Bracer does not give every weapon the same enhancement. Each weapon has its own Boost Driver and can have separate Boosted Actions or other unique methods of entering and using the Boost state.
Tokyo Game Show 2026 will have the first playable Ascendance demo
The Boost Bracer videos arrive shortly before the first public playable appearance of Ascendance. Capcom is bringing the expansion to Tokyo Game Show 2026, held from September 17 through September 21 at Makuhari Messe.
The Capcom booth will offer three Ascendance quests, and the new Boost Bracer actions are available in all three. The available demo content covers different levels of Monster Hunter experience.
- A new monster hunting quest takes place in Ascendance's floating-ruins field and supports single-player or multiplayer.
- A returning Elder Dragon hunting quest supports single-player or multiplayer, with the target scheduled to be revealed during Capcom Spotlight on September 16.
- A Chatacabra hunting quest is designed for newcomers and is available in single-player.
The TGS build therefore gives attendees a chance to use the same new combat system that Capcom is demonstrating through the September weapon videos before the expansion's full release.
