Platforms and availability

Wilds is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. Capcom supports crossplay, so hunters on the three platform families can join the same online sessions when crossplay is enabled. Online play supports hunting parties while the base game can also be played through its story and quests without treating cross-platform play as a separate edition. Cross-play support is confirmed.

Cross-platform play is supported.

Gameplay overview

The core loop remains hunting large monsters, carving materials, and forging stronger weapons and armor, but Wilds builds that loop around larger connected ecosystems. Monster behavior, herds, weather, and environmental conditions can change the shape of a hunt while the player tracks targets across the locale. All 14 weapon types return. Focus Mode lets the hunter aim attacks and guards more precisely, reveal wounds and weak points, and trigger Focus Strikes against exposed targets. The Seikret mount speeds up travel, can guide the hunter toward objectives, and carries a second weapon so loadouts can change during a hunt.

Player support: 1; online 1-4.

Story, setting, or main mode

The story follows a Research Commission expedition into the Forbidden Lands, an unexplored region believed to be uninhabited. The Hunter joins the investigation after the rescue of Nata, a young boy whose account points the Guild toward people and monsters beyond the known frontier. The journey crosses distinct ecosystems including the Windward Plains and other regions shaped by dramatic environmental cycles. The expedition’s investigation, local settlements, and the mystery surrounding the Forbidden Lands connect the hunts into a continuous campaign.
