Platforms and availability
The game is available on PC through NTE's official client as well as Steam, Epic Games Store, and Google Play Games on PC. Android uses Google Play, while iPhone, iPad, and Mac versions are distributed through the App Store. PlayStation 5 players can download the free base game from PlayStation Store.
Cross-platform progression is supported between Windows PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android when players sign in with the same PWG Account. Regional servers remain independent, so choosing a different server does not carry character progress with it.
Gameplay and setting
NTE takes place primarily in Hethereau, a modern metropolis where supernatural Anomalies coexist with everyday city life. The player becomes an Appraiser and unlicensed Anomaly Hunter working with the Eibon Antique Shop, taking commissions and investigating unusual incidents alongside characters from Eibon, the Bureau of Anomaly Control, and other organizations around the city.
The open-world structure combines action RPG combat and character progression with exploration, driving, property ownership, social systems, and urban activities. Players can customize vehicles, purchase and furnish homes, build relationships through Bagel, City Hangouts, Hangout, and Move-In systems, and use the Ghost Train to move through Anomaly space.
City Tycoon expands the non-combat side of the game with businesses, assets, properties, garages, and ways to earn Fons. Other activities include fishing, street racing, delivery and cab work, online Mahjong, and multiplayer modes such as Pink Paws Heist. Character acquisition and development also use Limited Boards, Arcs, and the Arc Research Program alongside the game's free-to-play in-app purchase model.
