On August 8, 2026, HoYoverse confirmed Honkai: Nexus Anima for gamescom 2026, where visitors can play the latest demo in Hall 6.1. The event runs August 26 to 30 in Cologne. This follows the July 9 to 27 Evolution Test, which expanded characters, Anima, regions, exploration, and core systems.

Gameplay and setting

Players begin in Iia on the Reality Plane after escaping captivity. The world is shaped by the Sundering, which broke the Nexus bonds between paired Aspects and left remnant power in creatures called Anima. Players form Nexus Links with Anima for exploration and tactical Nexus Battles; the development team describes the combat direction as auto-chess, with team placement and composition carrying the strategy. The Evolution Test also introduced Anima evolution, naming, bond photos, and alternate color variants, although pre-release details remain subject to change.
