Honkai: Nexus Anima

The latest major official public milestone for Honkai: Nexus Anima was its playable appearance at gamescom 2026, where HoYoverse presented the latest demo for hands-on play. The appearance followed the Evolution Test, which expanded the story, world exploration, Anima interactions, evolution features, characters, and Nexus Battle content. HoYoverse has not announced the next public test or a Global launch date.

Honkai: Nexus Anima is built around the Nexus, an unseen connection between paired concepts such as Love and Hate, Light and Dark, Life and Death, and Reality and Illusion. After a catastrophic event severed these connections, fragments of their power became creatures known as Anima. The player is a plane-hopping traveler who escapes captivity and begins a journey in Iia, forming Nexus Links with Anima while investigating the world and the hidden truth of their own past.

Anima serve as companions in both exploration and battle. Players can encounter and collect different species, build stronger bonds with them, give them names, photograph special moments, discover rare Chromatic variants, and develop them through Anima Evolution. Nexus Battles focus on assembling teams whose Aspects, abilities, placement, and interactions create different tactical combinations while the creatures fight on the field. The broader adventure also includes exploration through the Reality Plane, encounters with characters such as Nanafey, Bai Mei, and Olympia, and locations including Nexus Hall and the True Nexus Syndicate facilities in Iia.
