AFK Journey

Version 1.7.3 adds Rolan (Lightbearer warrior) and Voracia (Mer hero) to the hero roster. A new permanent guild battle mode, Clash of Glory, introduces coordinated territory objectives for guilds. The Doomward Phantom arrives as a new Primal Lord encounter. Enhance Force upgrades expand Cecia and Berial's combat capabilities, and new cosmetic skins are available for five existing heroes. Three seasonal events accompany the update: Dream Hunt, Crafter's Venture, and Dawn of Glory.

AFK Journey launched globally on March 27, 2024, releasing simultaneously on Android and iOS. A PC release via Steam followed on April 27, 2026. The game operates on a seasonal model, with each season introducing a new region of Esperia, a distinct story arc, new heroes, and updated mechanics on an approximately four-month schedule. Season 7, titled Crown of Ashes, launched in May 2026 and is set in the Savannah of the Lightbearer Empire. AFK Journey surpassed 15 million downloads and $158 million in cumulative revenue by the end of 2024.

AFK Journey is available on PC through Steam, on Android through Google Play, and on iOS through the App Store. All platforms share the same regional servers, allowing PC and mobile players to participate in the same guilds, PvP, and guild battles without restriction. No console or browser version has been announced.

AFK Journey takes place in Esperia, a storybook fantasy continent where seven hero factions contend for influence: Lightbearers, Wilders, Maulers, Graveborn, Celestials, Hypogeans, and Dimensionals. The main story follows Merlin, a legendary mage who has lost his memories, as he travels across Esperia and uncovers the origins of the world's conflicts. Campaign chapters advance the narrative while also introducing new heroes and regions each season.

Combat runs automatically in real time, with teams of up to five heroes positioned on a grid before each encounter. Players can activate hero ultimate abilities manually, but fighting resolves without further direct input. Idle rewards accumulate while the game is closed, allowing consistent progression during offline periods. The Primal Lord system introduces rotating large-scale boss encounters with time limits, rewarding coordinated team builds and sustained daily participation across the server.

Heroes are acquired through gacha summons and classified into seven factions, each with distinct combat roles and synergy bonuses. The Artifact System, the Resonating Hall, and individual hero skill investment provide multiple progression layers beyond resonance level. Enhance Force upgrades, introduced as an endgame system, unlock additional skill tiers for specific heroes. The AFK stage, the Dream Realm, tower modes, and Arena PvP provide persistent endgame content alongside the seasonal story.

Season 7, Crown of Ashes, takes place in the Savannah and introduces the Soul Pact mechanic, Magic Charms, and the Supreme League competitive PvP format. Guild battles, including the permanent Clash of Glory mode added in version 1.7.3, extend multiplayer participation to coordinated territorial objectives. The Dimensional faction differs from the six standard factions: most Dimensional heroes are available only through limited-time crossover events rather than the standard summon pool.

AFK Journey is developed by Lilith Games, a Chinese game studio founded in 2013 and also known for AFK Arena and Rise of Kingdoms. The game is published internationally under the Farlight Games brand, which is Lilith's international publishing arm. Lilith Games maintains a regular seasonal update schedule for AFK Journey, releasing new heroes, story content, and gameplay systems on an approximately four-month cycle. AFK Journey surpassed 15 million downloads within its first year of global availability.
