Free Fire
Free Fire is Garena’s free-to-play mobile battle royale shooter, built around 50-player, roughly 10-minute survival matches and the 4v4 Clash Squad mode. It launched on Android and iOS on December 4, 2017, and OB54 is the current update.
Latest update
OB54 became available on June 24, 2026. Garena's patch adds BR Match Review, Battle Royale loot-tier indicators, Clash Squad Perk Points, revised character and weapon balance, and social-media links on player profiles; its ninth-anniversary event ran from June 24 through July 26.
Release date and status
Garena officially launched Free Fire on December 4, 2017 for Android and iOS. It remains a released live-service title with recurrent patches, ranked seasons, collaborations and events.

Platforms and availability
Free Fire is available natively on Android and iOS/iPadOS. Garena's FAQ lists it as mobile-only; no native Windows PC or console version has been announced.
Gameplay overview
Battle Royale drops 50 players onto an island to loot weapons, use vehicles, manage the shrinking safe zone and survive until one player or team remains. Clash Squad uses 4v4 rounds with an economy for purchasing weapons, while Craftland supports player-created experiences and squads can use in-game voice chat.
Story, setting, or main mode
Free Fire is organized around competitive matches rather than a fixed story campaign. Long-term progression comes from characters and skills, weapon mastery, ranked ladders, collections, pets and rotating event systems.

Download and availability
Free Fire is free to download from Google Play and the App Store with optional in-app purchases, including Diamond bundles. The client can download additional game resources after installation.
System / Device Requirements
Garena Support publishes separate minimum and recommended mobile configurations. Apple's current store listing requires iOS or iPadOS 12.0 or later, which supersedes the older iOS 9 software floor still shown in Garena Support's hardware article.
