Fortnite
Fortnite is a free-to-play multiplayer action shooter developed and published by Epic Games. Players control customizable avatars who enter a connected collection of Epic and creator-made experiences. In Battle Royale, the central goal is to outlast the other players and earn a Victory Royale, while other Fortnite experiences use their own cooperative, racing, music, survival, or creation objectives. Its defining gameplay system is combat building, which lets players gather materials and construct structures during a fight, while Zero Build removes construction from the same Battle Royale framework.

Gameplay and setting
Fortnite is built around a collection of playable experiences rather than one permanent mode. Battle Royale and Zero Build send players onto an island to loot weapons and items, survive the closing Storm, and outlast the remaining players or teams, while Reload offers a faster respawn-focused variation. Fortnite also includes the cooperative Save the World campaign, Fortnite Festival music gameplay, LEGO Fortnite experiences, Rocket Racing, Creative islands, and experiences built with Unreal Editor for Fortnite. Progression extends through account levels, quests, Battle Pass rewards, cosmetic items, competitive ranks, and mode-specific systems.
