How to Recover Fortnite Progress After Linking the Wrong Console Account

Fortnite stores progression and purchases on your Epic Games account, not on the console account itself. If your PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account is linked to the wrong Epic account, the console shows the progress belonging to that linked Epic account.

Before changing anything, sign in to every Epic Games account you may have used and identify the one containing the progress you want to keep. Epic specifically recommends doing this first because two Fortnite accounts cannot be merged.

1. Open Epic Games in a browser. Use a private or incognito window if possible. If an account is already signed in, sign out first so you do not edit the wrong account.
2. Sign in to the Epic account currently holding the wrong console link. You can use the normal Epic credentials or the relevant console sign-in option.
3. Open Linked accounts. Locate the PlayStation, Xbox, or Nintendo account that needs to be moved.
4. Select Unlink. Read the warning, check the required confirmation boxes, then select Unlink again.
5. Sign out and enter the Epic account with your real Fortnite progress. Confirm that this is the account you identified before starting.
6. Remove the same-platform linking restriction if Epic requires it. Select the affected platform, choose Send a code, enter the code sent to the Epic account email, then choose Remove the [Platform] restriction.
7. Link the console account to the main Epic account. Return to Linked accounts, choose the platform, and complete the console sign-in prompts.
8. Launch Fortnite on the console. Your console should now display the progress stored on the linked main Epic Games account.

Unlinking a console does not move or erase Fortnite progression. It changes which Epic account the console can access. After the correct console account is linked to the Epic account that owns your progress, that account's progression and purchases should appear when you open Fortnite.

Note: If you open Fortnite while the console is unlinked, Epic can create a new empty Epic account for that console. The original account and its progression still exist.

• Epic does not support merging Fortnite progression from two Epic Games accounts.
• A console account can be blocked from linking to an Epic account when that Epic account previously used another account from the same console platform.
• A linking-restriction removal for the same platform can be completed only once every 365 days.
• If Fortnite Crew is active on the platform account you are removing, cancel the subscription before unlinking because new Crew rewards will no longer be delivered through that unlinked platform.

First confirm that you are signed in to the Epic Games account containing the progress you want. If Epic reports that a different account from the same platform was previously linked, complete the linking-restriction removal before trying again. If you already removed the restriction and accidentally relinked the old console account, Epic says a new restriction may apply, so use Epic Games Support rather than repeatedly unlinking accounts.
