Season Overview and Launch Timing
Chapter 7 Season 4 launched on August 20, 2026 following server downtime that started at 2 AM ET, with servers returning around 6 AM ET. The Gaming Legends theme replaces the previous season's map and storyline with new locations, franchise-crossover characters, and a seasonal antagonist.
New and Removed Map Locations
Three existing points of interest were removed when Override went live: Calamari Canyon, Frosted Flats, and Sinister Strip. Five new locations were added in their place:
- Green Hill Zone: A Sonic the Hedgehog-themed area based on the classic Sega stage
- Geno's HQ: The season antagonist's base of operations
- Temple: A new interior landmark in the map's central area
- Spire: The new central story structure, replacing the Zero Point as the map's lore anchor
- Pac-Man Island: A Pac-Man-themed coastal zone
Battle Pass
The Override Battle Pass includes eight skins. Sonic the Hedgehog and Geno are the two licensed characters in the pass, joined by six original Fortnite designs: Bastion, Grace Crowne, K1ttyW1ns, Wrixel, Mali, and Phantom. Eight Sprite companions are also available, including Tails, which gives its owner a hover ability in mid-air, alongside Bushranger, Jazz Jackrabbit, Klombo, Killswitch, Crown, and a player design contest winner.
Item Shop Collaborations
Additional franchise skins are coming to the Item Shop throughout the season, with individual release dates to be announced. Confirmed additions include Mega Man, Crash Bandicoot, Spyro the Dragon, Joker from Persona 5, Shadow the Hedgehog, Dr. Eggman, Sora from Kingdom Hearts, Lara Croft, and the returning Master Chief from Halo.
New Weapons and Mythic Items
Three Mythic items were added with Override. The Sonic Spin Dash is a movement and combat item. The Tetriminos Junk Rift drops Tetris-block objects onto the target area. The Mega Man Mythic is an arm cannon modeled on Mega Man's signature weapon. Three new standard weapons are also available: the 8-bit Shotgun, which shows a score and combo counter during combat, and two Cyberpunk 2077 collaboration SMGs, the HJSH-18 Masamune and the TKI-20 Shingen.
Lobby Hacks and Cartridges
Lobby Hacks is a new pre-match system that lets players enter input codes to activate a cartridge for that match. Once a cartridge is active, its modifier applies to every player on the island, not only the activating player. The available cartridges are themed around the season's franchises and alter match rules in different ways for the duration of the game.
