How to Carry FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH Demo Progress Over
The free FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH demo on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox on PC includes Chapters 1 and 2 and supports progress carryover into the full game. The full version released on June 3, 2026, so the key decision now is whether to continue from the demo save or start again. Square Enix also includes Streamlined Progression options in the demo—unlimited HP and MP, an always-full ATB gauge, and easier weapon ability acquisition—which can change how the trial feels compared with standard progression.

The free demo is on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox on PC. Carryover works within the same platform and account route, so play the demo where you intend to buy the full game.
Square Enix lists Xbox Play Anywhere support, which matters if you move between an Xbox console and the Xbox PC app.
Play the demo, then load it in the full game
5 steps
Install the free demo, play through Chapters 1 and 2, keep the save attached to the same account, then install the full game and load that progress.
1
Download the free demo
Use the Nintendo Switch 2 or Xbox demo listing linked by Square Enix. Download the free demo on Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, or Xbox on PC.
2
Play Chapters 1 and 2
Square Enix's announcement says both chapters are included. Play Chapters 1 and 2 as desired and keep the demo save attached to the same supported account/platform route.
3
Keep the demo save available
Retain the progress you want to carry into the full game on the same supported platform environment. Install the full game, released June 3, 2026, without deleting the demo data first.
4
Install or launch the full game
Use the full-game version on the supported platform where your demo progress is available. Use the supported carryover flow when the full game recognizes the demo progress.
5
Use the supported carryover flow
Square Enix confirms demo progress carryover; follow the transfer option presented by the full game. On Xbox Play Anywhere, allow account and save synchronization to complete before diagnosing a missing save.
Two chapters of real campaign progress
Chapter 1 covers the Nibelheim incident with younger Cloud and Sephiroth. Chapter 2 opens the Grasslands and adds several hours of combat and exploration.
That is why the carryover matters: it is a substantial opening slice, not a short benchmark, and it saves replaying those hours after buying.
Streamlined Progression changes the difficulty
The demo includes Streamlined Progression options — unlimited HP and MP, an always-full ATB gauge and easier weapon-ability acquisition. If they were enabled, the demo is not a fair gauge of the full game's combat.
A save made in an unrelated store ecosystem is not covered; the demo and the full game have to sit in the same platform and account route.

Confirm the transfer before deleting the demo
Load the full game and verify the intended progress is actually there before removing the demo data.
On Xbox with Play Anywhere, let account and save synchronisation finish before deleting anything.
