How to Unlock Black Tides, Domains & Horizon in Assassin's Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Title Update 1.1.11 added three pieces of content with different unlock gates: the Black Tides story quest, the Domains endgame activity, and the Horizon Animus Rift. Ubisoft’s official release notes spell out the prerequisites, so the fastest route is to check story completion, the two required post-launch quests, character level, and prior Rift progress separately.
What this guide unlocks
Black Tides, Domains, and Horizon are separate additions in Title Update 1.1.11 and do not share one universal unlock condition.
Use the prerequisite list below instead of assuming the update automatically opens every activity.
Black Tides requirements
Ubisoft requires completion of Naoe and Yasuke’s main story.
You must also complete the post-launch quests A Critical Encounter and A Puzzlement.
Domains requirements
Domains unlock at level 30.
Ubisoft describes five gameplay simulations spread across ten challenge levels.
Horizon Rift requirement
The new Horizon Animus Rift requires completion of the two previous Animus Rifts.
This is a separate progression gate from the Black Tides quest chain and the level requirement for Domains.
Check your progress
If Black Tides does not appear, verify all three listed story and quest requirements rather than only the main campaign.
If Domains or Horizon remains unavailable, check level 30 and previous Rift completion respectively.
