Latest update

Ubisoft released Title Update 1.1.11 on June 16, 2026, with Nintendo Switch 2 receiving it on June 19. The final major content update adds the free Black Tides story capper, five Domains simulations across 10 challenge levels, the Horizon Animus Rift, the Riptides and Undertow Projects, and balance and interface fixes.

Black Tides requires both protagonists’ main story plus A Critical Encounter and A Puzzlement, while Domains opens at level 30. Ubisoft excludes the two crossover Projects from Nintendo Switch 2 because their Black Flag Resynced content is not available on that platform.

Gameplay overview

Players investigate targets, scout locations, recruit allies, upgrade a hideout, collect equipment, and develop separate Mastery trees for Naoe and Yasuke. Seasons and weather alter visibility and routes across the open world.

Naoe emphasizes darkness, sound, parkour, tools, a grappling hook, and assassination paths; Yasuke uses armor, posture damage, bows, rifles, and heavier melee weapons for direct combat. The paid game also includes optional Helix Credit purchases.

Story, setting, or main mode

Set during the late Sengoku period, the campaign follows Iga shinobi Naoe and samurai Yasuke as their separate paths converge around warlords, local factions, and the Assassin–Templar conflict. Castles, towns, ports, temples, countryside, and the island of Awaji form the main playable regions.

Trailer, screenshots, and media

Ubisoft’s world premiere trailer contrasts Naoe’s stealth and parkour with Yasuke’s armored combat, while the screenshots show seasonal landscapes, character progression, the Awaji expansion, Domains, the Horizon Rift, and Title Update 1.1.11 rewards.
