Latest update
Roblox's redesigned application home remains its newest major player-facing platform rollout as of September 8, 2026. The rollout began on July 28 in Canada, New Zealand, and Singapore with dedicated Moments, Chat, and Me tabs and is planned to expand to more regions over time. New Zealand also received the public alpha of Build, a mobile-first creation system that lets eligible creators begin building games inside the Roblox app and continue developing them through Roblox Studio. Roblox also expanded its creator analytics and experimentation tools in August with real-time performance alerts and additional testing controls.
Release date and status
Roblox publicly launched in 2006 and remains an actively developed gaming, creation, and social platform. Its device reach has expanded substantially since the original desktop release, including Xbox One in January 2016, Meta Quest in July 2023, PlayStation in October 2023, Samsung Galaxy Store and Xbox Ally support in October 2025, and a native PlayStation 5 application on April 14, 2026.

Gameplay and setting
Roblox does not have one campaign, world, or fixed gameplay loop. A shared Roblox account carries the player's avatar, virtual inventory, Robux, Friends, settings, and other platform-level information between supported experiences.
