Resident Evil Requiem

Resident Evil Requiem is Capcom’s paid survival-horror game and the ninth mainline Resident Evil title, built around FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft and veteran agent Leon S. Kennedy. Grace’s limited-resource horror and Leon’s action-focused combat can both be played in first-person or third-person view, and Version 1.3.1 is the current confirmed update.

Latest update

Capcom’s Version 1.3.1 update is live from June 25, 2026. It reduces the difficulty of Leon Must Die Forever’s Rank 1 and Rank 2, enhances several skills—including Throwing+, Explosives Specialist, and Strategist—and fixes minor issues.

Leon Must Die Forever itself was added on May 8, 2026; the June update rebalances that existing post-game mode rather than introducing it.

Release date and status

Resident Evil Requiem is released, with Capcom’s global launch dated February 27, 2026. Steam and the Singapore PlayStation and Xbox storefronts display February 26 because of regional store timing, while Nintendo lists February 27 for Nintendo Switch 2.

Platforms and availability

The released version is available on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch 2. Capcom sells the PC edition through Steam and Epic Games Store, while the console editions use PlayStation Store, Microsoft Store, and Nintendo eShop.

A free demo has been available since May 27, 2026 on supported storefronts. It covers part of the early game, and Epic Games Store’s listing states that its save data does not transfer to the full version.

Gameplay overview

Grace Ashcroft’s route emphasises investigation, puzzles, limited resources, infected-blood crafting, and deciding when to fight or flee. Leon S. Kennedy’s route shifts toward firearms, a hatchet, melee attacks, parries, enemy weapons, and an upgradeable arsenal stored in an attaché case.

Both routes support freely switchable first-person and third-person views. The paid base game is single-player, while the Deluxe Edition and optional add-ons provide costumes, weapon skins, filters, charms, audio, and extra files rather than a separate multiplayer mode.

Story, setting, or main mode

FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft investigates deaths linked to a mysterious disease at the abandoned Wrenwood Hotel, where her mother Alyssa was murdered eight years earlier. DSO agent Leon S. Kennedy investigates the same Midwest crisis, and their paths lead through a zombie-infested chronic care centre and the missile-scarred ruins of Raccoon City.

Capcom frames the ninth mainline story around Grace’s personal connection to the Raccoon City incident and Leon’s experience as one of its survivors, with the two campaigns sharing locations, enemies, and resources.

The third trailer and gameplay screenshots show Grace’s low-resource investigation, Leon’s more aggressive combat, the first-person and third-person camera options, and the ruined environments connecting the chronic care centre with Raccoon City.
