Gameplay and setting
Players control the DOOM Slayer in grounded, visceral combat that emphasizes standing and fighting rather than constant aerial mobility. Core tools include classic weapons such as the Super Shotgun alongside the new Shield Saw for offense and defense, melee options, and enhanced glory kills. Larger-scale sequences involve piloting the Mecha Dragon for aerial assaults and the towering Atlan mech for battlefield dominance. Levels are the largest and most expansive in the modern DOOM series, set across demon-infested medieval battlefields, ruined castles, dark forests, and hellscapes. The single-player campaign tells the cinematic origin of the Slayer as the super weapon of gods and kings during an ancient war against Hell.
