Cyberpunk 2077 is a premium open-world action RPG developed and published by CD PROJEKT RED. Players assume the role of V, a customizable cyberpunk mercenary navigating the dangerous streets of Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour, and body modification. Progression centers on completing story missions and side gigs, building reputation, acquiring cybernetic enhancements, and forging relationships with characters whose fates are shaped by player choices. Latest update
The current version is Patch 2.31, released in September 2025. This update upgraded AutoDrive with smoother navigation, overtaking behavior, and improved Free Roam mode. It added a PlayStation 5 Pro version with PSSR upscaling, optimized ray-traced object queries, and three graphics modes: Ray Tracing Mode at 60 FPS, Performance Mode up to 90 FPS on VRR displays, and Ray Tracing Pro Mode at 40 FPS. Photo Mode received gender-inclusive poses, disabled NPC collision, and new character spawn options. The patch also fixed quest issues in Freedom, Motorbreath, and Nitro (Youth Energy), plus various stability and localization fixes across PC, Mac, and consoles.
Release date and status
Cyberpunk 2077 originally launched on December 10, 2020 for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Stadia. Next-generation versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S arrived on February 15, 2022. The Phantom Liberty expansion released on September 26, 2023 for PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S. The game came to macOS on July 17, 2025 and Nintendo Switch 2 as a launch title on June 5, 2025. The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions received their final patch on November 8, 2022 and are no longer supported. The game is currently available on Xbox Game Pass Premium and Ultimate as of March 2026.

Platforms and availability
The game is available on PC (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store), Mac (Mac App Store, Steam, GOG, Epic), PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch 2. The PC version is DRM-free on GOG. The Nintendo Switch 2 Ultimate Edition ships on a full 64GB cartridge with no additional download required. Xbox Game Pass subscribers can access the game on console and PC through Premium and Ultimate tiers. The PS4 and Xbox One versions are playable but no longer receive updates.
Gameplay and setting
Set in Night City, a dystopian California megalopolis ruled by corporations, players create V, a fully customizable mercenary choosing from three lifepaths: Nomad, Streetkid, or Corpo. Combat blends first-person shooting with melee, hacking (Quickhacks), and stealth. The Cyberware system allows extensive body modification, including Mantis Blades, Gorilla Arms, Monowire, and the time-slowing Sandevistan. The Update 2.0 overhaul redesigned perk trees, added vehicle combat, and improved police AI. The Phantom Liberty expansion introduces Dogtown, a walled-off combat zone, and a spy-thriller narrative with branching endings. Choices throughout the main story and expansion shape the fates of characters and determine which of multiple endings V receives.

Cyberpunk 2077 is developed and published by CD PROJEKT RED, the Polish studio behind The Witcher series. The game is based on the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG created by Mike Pondsmith. Physical distribution in North America was handled by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, while Bandai Namco managed distribution in Europe, Australia, and New Zealand. Spike Chunsoft published physical PlayStation 4 copies in Japan.
