Gears of War: E-Day is The Coalition's paid third-person cover shooter — Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago and Bravo Squad fight through Kalona during the first three days of the Locust invasion. It launches October 6, 2026 on Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC, with Premium early access beginning October 1.

Xbox and The Coalition published a PC technology update on July 14, 2026. It confirms hardware ray tracing, NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 with Dynamic Multi Frame Generation and Reflex, AMD FSR, Unreal Engine TSR, Intel XeSS and Advanced Shader Delivery; Xbox and Steam still list expected Open Beta early access for August 6–10, with timing subject to platform and subscription.

Xbox Game Studios will release Gears of War: E-Day worldwide on October 6, 2026. Premium Edition early access begins up to five days earlier on October 1, while Standard and Premium pre-orders remain open during this check.

Xbox's official game page lists Xbox Series X|S, Windows PC through the Xbox app and Steam, supported Xbox handhelds and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The game supports Xbox Play Anywhere, day-one Game Pass, cross-platform multiplayer and optional account-linked roaming saves.
Gameplay overview
The Coalition retains Gears' cover-based shooting while adding jumping, smoother vaulting, sprint slides, varied cover heights and vertical flanking. Destructible cover, E-holes, rebuilt weapons, executions and new tools such as the Gut Puncher and Incinerator expand combat.
Story, setting, or main mode
The campaign follows Marcus Fenix, Dominic Santiago, Mags Carter and Lucas Reyes across three days in Kalona as the Locust first erupt beneath Sera. It supports solo play, console two-player split-screen and four-player online co-op; multiplayer adds 12-player Horde Siege PvE and 4v4 Versus.

Developer and publisher
The Coalition develops Gears of War: E-Day, and Xbox Game Studios publishes it. The studio rebuilt the game from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5.

Download and availability
The US Standard Edition costs $69.99, Premium costs $99.99 and the Premium Upgrade costs $30.00. Pre-orders add the Exfil Dom and weapon skins plus Beta access; Premium adds up to five days of early access, a Bravo Squad weapon pack, five seasonal customization packs and 1,000 Iron.
