Black Myth: Wukong

Black Myth: Wukong is Game Science's paid, single-player action RPG — the Destined One uses staff stances, spells, spirits and transformations across a journey rooted in Chinese mythology. It has been out on PC and PlayStation 5 since August 20, 2024, and on Xbox Series X|S since August 20, 2025, with Version 1.0.21 now current.

Game Science's latest listed game update is Version 1.0.21, released January 12–14, 2026 depending on platform. It fixes PC Super Resolution performance and settings, water and snow behaviour, Journeyer's Chart tearing on PS5, a Non-White Spirit crash, Stone Monkey visual effects and Steam controller-setting persistence.

Release date and status

Game Science released Black Myth: Wukong for PlayStation 5 and PC on August 20, 2024. The Xbox Series X|S edition followed on August 20, 2025, so the game is now released across all three supported platform groups.

The released version covers Windows PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and WeGame, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. PlayStation lists PS5 Pro Enhanced support, while Xbox lists optimization for Series X|S, 60 FPS+, keyboard and mouse, achievements and cloud saves.

Gameplay overview

The Destined One fights with staff stances, combo techniques, dodges and build-specific equipment while combining spells, spirit skills, transformations and magic vessels. Enemy patterns and boss mechanics reward timing, resource management and changing the active strategy rather than relying on one fixed loadout.

Story, setting, or main mode

The single-player story is rooted in Chinese mythology and Journey to the West. The Destined One crosses six chapters of ruined temples, mountains, deserts and supernatural realms to uncover the obscured truth behind Sun Wukong's legacy and the characters caught within it.
