007 First Light is IO Interactive's paid third-person espionage action-adventure — a 26-year-old James Bond earns his place in MI6 through stealth, bluffing, gadgets, combat and globe-spanning missions. It has been out on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S since May 27, 2026, with Version 1.1.0 now current.
Latest update
Version 1.1.0 went live July 24, 2026 with fixes and improvements for more than 200 reported issues. IO Interactive also added The Workshop and Extraction Avenues TacSim Escalations, the Stormberg 50'cal, DRX-2 Machine Pistol and DRS-7 Silenced SMG, plus the Diamond in the Rough outfit as Intel unlocks.
Release date and status
IO Interactive released 007 First Light worldwide on May 27, 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC. The Nintendo Switch 2 edition remains announced for Summer 2026, but IO Interactive has not published an exact release date.

The released version is available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Windows PC through Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store. Xbox also lists Play Anywhere, cloud and handheld support; Steam labels the PC version Steam Deck Playable.
Gameplay overview
Creative Approach missions let players gather information, pickpocket items, bluff past suspicion, hack systems with Q Branch gadgets or escalate into close combat and gunplay. Bond's Instinct supports lures, social deception and precision shooting, while vehicles and cinematic set pieces connect the infiltration missions.
Story, setting, or main mode
The standalone origin story follows a 26-year-old Royal Navy air crewman recruited into MI6's revived Double 0 programme. After a mission against a rogue agent ends in tragedy, Bond works with reluctant mentor John Greenway to expose a conspiracy and prevent a coup at the heart of the State.
