Persona5: The Phantom X is a free-to-play turn-based RPG developed by Black Wings Game Studio in collaboration with ATLUS and published by SEGA. Players take control of Wonder, a Tokyo high school student who awakens a Persona and joins a new group of Phantom Idols after the city's desires are stolen by an unseen force. Progression centers on building School Life bonds by day, strengthening Personas in the Velvet Room, and infiltrating Palaces within Mementos to steal Treasures from corrupted Rulers. Its defining gameplay blends turn-based Persona combat with a Phantom Idol gacha system that lets players recruit new Phantom Thieves alongside returning Persona 5 characters such as Joker and Ann Takamaki.

Platforms and availability

The game is available on PC through Steam and Google Play Games, and on mobile through the App Store and Google Play. Save data carries over automatically between the iOS, Google Play, and Steam versions of the same regional server. Southeast Asian players use a separate IWPlay World-published version of the app on the App Store and Google Play.

Gameplay and setting

Combat uses the series' turn-based Persona battle system, where exploiting an enemy's elemental weakness grants extra actions and sets up team attacks. Outside of combat, players balance School Life activities such as clubs, part-time jobs, and social bonds with Phantom Thief duties inside the Metaverse. The Synergy System lets the protagonist build relationships with citizens who have lost their desires, unlocking new abilities and story content. A gacha-based Phantom Idol Contract system is used to recruit new playable Phantom Thieves and Personas, including guest appearances by original Persona 5 characters such as Joker, Ann Takamaki, and Morgana. The story is set in a dark, hope-drained version of Tokyo, where players infiltrate Palaces hidden inside Mementos to steal the Treasures of corrupted Rulers.
