Ubisoft Singapore rebuilds combat around parries and takedowns, expands stealth with crouch-anywhere and Observe mode, improves parkour, adds recruitable naval officers and alternate-fire weapons, and retains ship, hideout and equipment progression in a paid game with optional in-game purchases.

Story, setting, or main mode

The campaign follows Edward Kenway from privateer to pirate and Assassin between 1715 and 1722, as his pursuit of fortune draws him into the conflict between Assassins and Templars. Blackbeard, Anne Bonny, Calico Jack and Stede Bonnet return, while the remake adds new character material and the eight-mission A World Without Gold endgame chapter.
