Marvel's Wolverine
Marvel's Wolverine is a premium action-adventure game developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Players control James "Logan" Howlett, a centuries-old mutant with retractable adamantium claws and a rapid healing factor, as he rejoins the mutant task force Team X to rescue abducted mutants from the anti-mutant industrialist Bolivar Trask. The story follows Wolverine's search for answers about his own buried past while he fights to stop Trask's campaign against mutants across global locations including the Canadian wilderness, Madripoor, and Tokyo. Its defining gameplay centers on a rage-driven, third-person melee combat system in which rising Rage Tiers unlock increasingly brutal Special Techniques and critical takedowns.

Latest update
The newest official coverage comes from an extensive hands-on preview published in August 2026, roughly a month before launch. It detailed the opening mission at Bolivar Trask's facility, a boss encounter with a Sentinel Prototype, and exploration of Madripoor's Lowtown, including the Rage Tier combat system, Special Techniques, and Nightmare Trial side content. It followed a San Diego Comic-Con panel that revealed the Story Trailer, composer David Fleming, and a full digital prequel comic.

Gameplay and setting
Combat centers on fast, close-range claw combat built around a rising Rage meter. As Wolverine builds Rage through successful combos, he progresses through three Rage Tiers that unlock Special Techniques like Tornado Spin and Knee Breaker, along with Adaptations that upgrade long-term traits such as health and rage capacity. Outside combat, Wolverine uses Enhanced Senses to track enemies stealthily and explore hub areas for collectibles, side conversations, and Nightmare Trials, timed platforming challenges that unlock pieces of his forgotten past. The story is set three years after Wolverine walked out on the mutant task force Team X, who he rejoins to rescue mutants being abducted by the anti-mutant industrialist Bolivar Trask and his Reavers militia, crossing paths with allies like Jean Grey, Mystique, and Sabretooth, and threats including Omega Red, The Hand, and Deathstrike.
